KIDS Disney party

15 December 2015

CHRISTMAS came early on Sunday (December 6) at an exclusive party put on for 14 of our families at London’s Oxford Street Disney Store.

The event was hosted by KIDS ambassador and CBBC star, Gemma Arrowsmith. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse were also on hand to help spread some Disney magic.

The families were treated to a private shopping spree in store and enjoyed face painting and healthy treats, as well as the chance to write their own Letter to Santa. Younger guests were also invited to dress up as their favourite Disney character – with many Cinderellas, Hulks and Elsas joining the party.

KIDS beneficiary Lloyd Tella from Watford and his family attended.  Lloyd is 10 years old and has autism and developmental delay. KIDS’ Information, Advice and Support Centre in West Hertfordshire has offered Lloyd and his family extensive support, helping to secure him a place in a school that can support his needs, as well as helping his family to find suitable housing and signpost them to other local services.

Lloyd’s mum, Tolhani said: “We had a fantastic time at the Disney Store party – it was such a special experience and really helped us get into the festive spirit.”

“Lloyd loved meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse and it was nice to spend time with other families with disabled children supported by KIDS.”

With the children and families receiving such special treatment, they all left the party feeling excited about the festive season. The party started before the store opened so also enabled families to shop in an environment without crowds, which can make shopping with a child who has additional needs even more challenging.

Disney Store will also be supporting KIDS’ families by donating the 2,000 soft toys used to construct the 14m high Disney Junior Christmas Tree, currently on display at St Pancras International Station from now until January 4th.
